NetEnt acquires interactive gaming permit in Pennsylvania.
Swedish online casino game developer NetEnt is set to offer its portfolio in the United States' Pennsylvania state. They've received an interactive gaming license from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) for this purpose. Recently, NetEnt and the Philadelphia-based Parx Casino announced a deal.
Anticipated Market Launch in Second Quarter
The license will allow NetEnt to be one of the first international game providers in the newly regulated Pennsylvania online gaming market. Pennsylvania has a population of almost 13 million and made a law amendment in October 2017, allowing official casino licenses for slots, table, and poker games, as well as online sports betting.
The online market was initially scheduled to open in early 2019 but got delayed for organizational reasons. NetEnt America CEO Erik Nyman expects Pennsylvania's gaming regulator to approve nationwide iGaming operations by the second quarter of this year. While no specific launch date has been specified, Nyman aims to offer the entire NetEnt range on the first day.
Recent Approvals by NJDGE and PASPA Repeal
Recently, NetEnt received a permanent Casino Service Industry Enterprise license from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE). NetEnt has been active in New Jersey since 2015 but only got to provide casino services via a transaction waiver. The NJDGE's review lasted nearly four years due to the current restructuring of the US gaming market.
New Jersey played a major role in PASPA's repeal in May 2018. Other states, including Pennsylvania, Mississippi, New York, Nevada, and California, are pioneering this market's liberalization. As regulated sports betting has been legalized, each state now regulates its gaming market.
Parx Casino Online Collaboration
In Pennsylvania, the state is now only the fourth to allow regulated internet gambling aside from sports betting. NetEnt has an exclusive online deal with Parx Casino, which is located in Philadelphia. They announced the partnership in February.
With the anticipated launch of online casinos in the second quarter, select NetEnt slots and table games will soon be available through various online platforms at Parx Casino. Free plays and free spin widgets may also be offered on their homepage.
Dead or Alive 2 Progress
NetEnt recently announced the release of a sequel to Dead or Alive, over ten years since the original game's launch. Dead or Alive 2 will be released in April, featuring improved graphics due to modern computer technology. The payout rate is also expected to be high, an RTP of 96.8%. The maximum jackpot will be 111,000 euros.
Similar to the original game, Dead or Alive 2 is played on a 5x3 reel grid with nine paylines. The bonus list will be extensive and includes two different free spins systems:
The first is the Old Saloon feature, allowing five free spins through the Sticky Wilds Lands feature. The second is the High Noon feature, familiar from the first game, turning Wilds into free spin symbols. When two Wilds appear in the free games, they're transformed into wild multipliers, resulting in up to 16x the payout.
While the symbols of the new game resemble the first part, they've been enhanced by the developer. Additionally, the high-quality symbols include whiskey bottles, sheriff's stars, cowboy boots, revolvers, and cartridges. The classic cards K, Q, J, A, and 10 have a Wild West look.
No details have been disclosed yet about Dead or Alive 2's availability. With this in mind, we all eagerly await April. Whether the sequel will match the original's success is yet to be seen.
