Nestlé introduces reduced-size meals for dieters.

The need for weight loss has led to the rise of Ozempic, a global trend that not only helps people lose weight but also impacts the revenue of food companies. If people feel less hungry, they naturally consume fewer snacks like chocolate bars and pizzas.

Specifically for individuals using Ozempic. - Nestlé introduces reduced-size meals for dieters.

Food giant Nestlé, known for brands like KitKat and Nescafe, is jumping on the bandwagon of the trending weight loss medication phenomenon. In the US market, they're launching a new line of products under the Vital Pursuit brand. This new venture aims to cater to people on weight loss medications like Wegovy or Ozempic.

Budget-friendly fare

Nestlé plans to offer low-cost, nutritious, and portion-controlled food options: frozen meals featuring wholemeal or protein pasta, sandwiches, and pizzas for $5 (approximately €4.61).

The company highlighted the health benefits of these products: they boast a high protein content, fibre-rich, rich in essential nutrients like iron and calcium. They're explicitly designed to suit the appetites of those using weight loss meds.

Wary of losing market share

Back in October, Nestlé CEO Ulf Mark Schneider, age 58, confirmed that the company was keeping a close eye on the potential for these drugs to impact their sales. He also mentioned their efforts to develop "companion products" to mitigate the risks of muscle loss for those on the drugs.

Mass appeal

With around 12.5% of adults in the US currently taking GLP-1 drugs, and Goldman Sachs predicting up to 70 million consumers could be doing so in four years, Nestlé's slimming line could well extend beyond a niche for buyers of the weight-loss injection—it might cater to the broader preferences of a whole country.
