Import Taxes Imposed - Negotiations for wholesale and international trade workers' rights end without progress made.

In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig-Holstein, there were unsuccessful discussions about wages for wholesale and foreign trade on Tuesday. The Verdi trade union had high hopes for these talks, as the collective bargaining process has been ongoing for a year, and the previous negotiation date occurred last November 2023.

Bert Stach, the representative of Verdi during the negotiations, stated, "We have put forth various compromises to the employers so we can finish off this bargaining round triumphantly." These discussions are scheduled to resume in the first week of June.

Verdi Nord is calling for a 13% increase in wages for retail workers, equivalent to a minimum of 400 euros per month. The organization is also looking to increase apprentice wages by 250 euros. Verdi represents over 70,000 workers in the wholesale and foreign trade sectors in the northern areas.
