Following a possible spleen injury - Nazir location altered to Moreno's clinic in Erfurt
The Ministry of Justice's spokesperson, Oliver Will, confirmed the news that a right-wing extremist, Balliet, was taken to a prison hospital in Fröndenberg/Ruhr, North Rhine-Westphalia, following an attempted attack on a synagogue in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt in 2019. However, to maintain security, Will did not specify the location.
According to the German news agency dpa, Balliet had been convicted of a racist and anti-Semitic attack near the synagogue in Halle and sentenced to life imprisonment with preventive detention.
On the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur in October 2019, Balliet tried to storm the synagogue and cause a massacre. Unsuccessful in his attempt, he went on to kill two people near the synagogue instead. Even while undergoing treatment in the hospital, he refused any medical help. Several police forces surrounded the hospital to maintain security.
