St. Pauli's leading Greek player - Nagelsmann's wishes for Saliakas: A dream collaboration
In future, there may be another special moment for a right-back in the coming season’s finale against SV Wehen Wiesbaden at 3.30 pm, live on Sky, and the potential second division championship.
Salikas and the German Dream
Last November, Salikas made a return to the Greek national team after a two-year hiatus in the European Championship qualifier against France. While only playing for five minutes, he joined Mbappe and company in a match that resulted in a disappointing elimination from Euro qualification.
However, St. Pauli’s promotion to the Bundesliga can potentially increase his prospects for more appearances in the national team. This is due to coach Gustavo Poyet stepping down after the country’s failed Euro qualifiers. Unfortunately, a permanent replacement has yet to be identified.
Given the circumstances, Greece’s upcoming test match against Germany will take place in Mönchengladbach on June 7, under the stewardship of national coach Julian Nagelsmann. The staff list for this game remains undisclosed by the Greek FA at the time of writing, but it is likely that Salikas will be one of those included.
Should Salikas feature in this game, it would mark an excellent accomplishment for him, considering his outstanding season with St. Pauli and their move to the Bundesliga.
