Recognition ceremony for distinguished individuals. - Musician Sammy Hagar receives a "Walk of Fame" star.

American rock star Sammy Hagar took a trip down memory lane as he unveiled his Hollywood Walk of Fame star to fans, celeb guests, and cameramen. A journey from tough childhood beginnings to Hollywood stardom, the former Van Halen frontman recounted the challenging upbringing he experienced with a single mother raising four kids.

Those hard times now make him feel embarrassed, but it's his pride these days to rise from those humble beginnings to the heights of the entertainment industry. Beaming with pride is not only his own progress in life but also the welfare of his four children and their success. Standing on his star plaque, Hagar shared the moment with his two sons and two daughters, as well as his second wife.

John Mayer pays homage

Sammy Hagar received his 2,779th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Paying a special tribute to him was American musician John Mayer (46), whose lifelong love for Hagar's music was apparent in his words. He touched on Hagar's "generosity and kindness," referencing the rocker's dedication as a philanthropist. Hagar actively supports projects that help children in need.

With over five decades in the music industry, Hagar has had an illustrious career. Montrose marked his breakthrough as a leading singer. He has enjoyed a successful solo journey, thrived in Van Halen as their frontman, and most recently collaborated with his Chickenfoot and The Circle bands ("Crazy Times"). Nicknamed the "Red Rocker" by his fans, this rock luminary is planning a summer tour with his long-time colleagues Michael Anthony and Jason Bonham accompanied by the highly-skilled Joe Satriani.
