Music Updates in Las Vegas: Nas Performs at the Wynn, Vedder Outperforms Butker, Park MGM Secures Lenny
Nas has just revealed three upcoming shows on Labor Day at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. Joining him will be the Las Vegas Philharmonic, and these performances will commemorate the 30th anniversary of his "Illmatic" album release.
In a statement, Nas stated, "Las Vegas has always been a creative outlet for my music, and these shows will take it to another level. I'm thrilled to work with the Las Vegas Philharmonic to debut this unique performance at Encore Theater and present my music to my Las Vegas fans in a new, exciting way."
The dates of the shows are August 29 and 30, and September 1. They will be available for purchase at 10 am on May 24, starting from $69.95 (without fees or taxes) through Ticketmaster.
Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam has attracted a lot of attention due to his remarks during the band's show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday. Taking the opportunity to criticize Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, Vedder spoke against the offensive speech he delivered at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, on May 11.
In his speech, which received a lot of negative feedback for its sexism and homophobia, Butker attacked Pride Month and expressed his opinion that women should be in the kitchen.
"The irony is that when he was saying that, he looked so weak," Vedder said, prompting a round of applause from the audience. "There's nothing more masculine than a strong man supporting a strong woman."
Lastly, Lenny Kravitz declared a mini-residency in the fall at the Park MGM. This series of shows, titled "Blue Electric Light" after his upcoming 12th studio album, will happen on October 18, 19, 23, 25, and 26 at Dolby Live. Tickets for the event will be available on May 24, 10 am, through Live Nation, Ticketmaster, with a fan presale starting at 10 am on May 22, and Live Nation, Ticketmaster, and MGM Rewards presales commencing at 10 am on May 23.
