During the night, the Israeli military found Shani's body in the northern part of the Palestinian territory. Her funeral was recently held in the town of Srigim located in the center of Israel.
Shani's mother, Ricarda Louk, emotionally spoke at the funeral saying, "We've come full circle now, and we're here to say goodbye to her body that's now been given back to us." The family's life had been turned upside down due to her abduction.

Ricarda continued with tears in her eyes, "We had hoped for three weekss that she would come home. But they told us that she had been killed, and only her body had been taken. "
Hamas terrorists took Shani's life when they attacked the Supernova Festival in the Israeli Negev desert close to the border with Gaza. Shani was enjoying the festival with friends. Her mom Ricarda remarked, "She had traveled everywhere in her life, from one festival to another. She lived life to the fullest, always smiling. Shani touched many hearts with her happiness."
Ricarda Louk felt blessed that her daughter's body was returned to Israel, saying, "It was a small gift."
The grieving mother went on, "Shani left a big impact with her words and endless love. We miss you so much, a part of you will always be with us in our hearts."
The Israeli army had disclosed Louk's death at the end of October. Ricarda Louk had stated at the time that a piece of a skull bone was found and a DNA sample was taken from it. If one suffers a brain injury, they would not be able to survive, as mentioned by the mother at the time.
