Outstanding display by Thomas - Müller makes light of Bayern's setback.
Following a disappointing defeat to TSG Hoffenheim (2:4), Bayern's Thomas Müller finds respite on a golf course with former ski star Felix Neureuther (40) and dual luger champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt (both 36). They won a total of six Olympic gold medals together.
In an Instagram video, Müller introduces the foursome and discusses their friendly golf competition.
Remarking on his golfing skills, Müller mentions: "Here's the third-best Bundesliga finisher. Excellent job, Thomas, with your team - very impressive." The others burst into laughter.
Müller's statement manifests his unique sense of humor - maintaining a light tone even in a high-stakes scenario.
Due to Bayern's loss at Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart's victory over Gladbach (4:0), Stuttgart overtook the reigning champions - earning the runners-up position in the championship.
Beneath Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern finished second.
Since the 2010/11 season, Bayern had dominated the Bundesliga, reigning supreme for ten consecutive seasons. 2011 was the last time Munich came second in the league.
Disappointed by Bayern's performance, Müller expressed: "We just want this season to end and start afresh!"
After suffering an early exit in the DFB Cup against Saarbrücken (third division), Bayern's Champions League run ended against Real Madrid. Additionally, Munich lost the German Super Cup against RB Leipzig in August.
In this current season, Bayern has gone titleless - a first since the 2011/12 campaign.
Unfortunately, Müller didn't fare much better in the golf battle.
The four-way clash between the "lugers" and the "world selection and skiing" (OT Müller) ends in a play-off, with the lugers emerging victorious. Müller and Neureuther fail to close the deal with a missed putt from barely over a foot away.
