Leverkusen Secures Double Victory - Moving message from Alonso
This player won everything imaginable. Xabi Alonso, who is 42 years old now, has also started winning awards as a coach. He's been at Werkself for a little over a year, and he's quickly become one of the most sought-after coaches globally. Alonso led Leverkusen to their first-ever championship and ended the season with a cup win. This is his second title as a coach and the 20th trophy of his entire football journey.
Monday saw Alonso checking in with the fans on Instagram. He shared photos of the championship celebration after the game against Augsburg (2:1) and another of the cup-winning celebration. In his caption, he says, "What a team. What a season. We enjoyed it, Bayer Leverkusen." He added two red and black hearts at the end.
His wife Nagore Aranburu, who's 44, left a comment on the post, saying, "Dream team." And she herself posted two emotional pictures on Instagram.
After the cup final against Lautern (1:0), Aranburu shared a kissing photo of the two of them at the stadium. Alonso was holding her while she wore the DFB Cup medal around her neck. She captioned the picture, "Congratulations, my love."
The second post on Monday morning included nine pictures, like the championship parade, the season-ending party in the stadium, a picture with the DFB Cup, the championship trophy with the engraving "2024 Bayer 04 Leverkusen," and a photo of the family with their three children, Jonxtu, Ane, and Emma. She wrote, "Great season, unforgettable experiences," and Alonso commented with three red hearts.
Xabi Alonso and his childhood sweetheart Nagore Aranburu are dubbed the "Dream Team," and they're like the double-winning coach and his Werkself.
