Severe crash occurs in the Ruhr area. - Motorcyclist collides with incoming vehicles, resulting in fatality
### What caused the crash?
Reports indicate that a biker traveled along the K9 route heading towards Datteln-Ahsen in the Ruhr area around 2:30 PM on a Saturday. While doing so, he quickly overtook a vehicle, hitting a speed of almost 100 km/h. Moments later, he hit another motorcyclist (55) traveling in the opposite direction, leading to a head-on collision.
Following the collision, one of the two motorcycles burst into flames and fell onto an adjacent grass bank, causing it to catch fire as well.
Serious injuries, one fatality
As a result, both riders were thrown off their motorcycles and sustained severe injuries. Unfortunately, the younger biker (25) did not survive the accident and perished at the scene.
On the other hand, the 55-year old rider was airlifted to a hospital, with his life no longer being in danger at present.
Emergency personnel in action
The K9 was entirely shut down until roughly 7:30 PM. Emergency services assembled a team of 16 firefighters, two emergency doctors, two rescue helicopters, and multiple ambulances to tackle this situation.
