Management of Immigration - Motion presented by the CDU in Saarland is rejected.

Raphael Schäfer (43, CDU) expressed his concerns, stating "This can't go on any longer." The stance of the CDU/CSU in Saarland is clear: "We want control over migration again." Restricting uncontrolled migration and regulating humanitarian migration need to be prioritized.

The opposition fiercely criticized the CDU: according to Sandra Quinten (54, SPD), the CDU's motion is a "populist talking point," deliberately creating fear. They claim the CDU desires approval from the right-wing faction.

The AfD condemned the CDU as "free-riding." Christoph Schaufert (55, AfD) expressed that his party has long advocated for limiting migration. However, the CDU's proposal was not accepted.

Essentially, the CDU requested an attempt by the Bundesrat to amend the Immigration Act for qualified workers, starting in August 2023. This adjustment is significant because "capping the number of foreigners" was originally an objective; however, it's now been eliminated.
