Recent study reveals public opinion A new survey has shed light on the thoughts and opinions of the general public. - Most Germans remain opposed to the Taurus delivery.

There has been an ongoing discussion about whether Germany should provide Ukraine with "Taurus cruise missiles" that have a range of several hundred kilometers for quite a while now.

A recent Forsa survey commissioned by RTL discovered that 37% of Germans support delivering these missiles. This is a 9% increase from the results in March. However, the majority still opposes the delivery, with 56% of German citizens disagreeing.

"Taurus cruise missiles" are capable of traveling over 500 kilometers, meaning they could potentially strike Russian land from Ukraine and destroy facilities like weapons storage sites and command centers. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is strongly against sending these missiles to Ukraine, as he fears it would result in Germany deploying soldiers and directly engaging in the conflict.

Greens show support for missile delivery according to the survey

The majority of Green Party supporters want to send these missiles to Ukraine, while the majority of SPD and FDP voters disagree. CDU/CSU supporters are divided on the issue. In contrast, BSW and AfD voters are the most steadfastly opposed.

Last week, the United States announced they would be providing Ukraine with short-range missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers. This has resulted in growing international pressure on the German government.

Methodological notes: Forsa interviewed 1007 individuals in Germany on April 26 and 29, 2022 for the survey. The margin of error is +/- three percentage points. The survey is considered representative. [
