Mohegan Inspire Casino in South Korea Receives Prestigious Hotel Rating
Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon, South Korea, has received an exclusive five-star hotel rating from the Korea Tourism Association.
Mohegan opened the first phase of Inspire in November at a cost of $1.6 billion. The original resort features 1,275 hotel rooms, suites and villas, 10 restaurants, an immersive entertainment street and a 15,000-seat arena and event center. The resort also features an indoor pool and a water park called Splash Bay.
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority announced this week that the Korea Tourism Association has recognized Inspire as a five-star hotel. The government agency rates hotels across the country using a strict rating called the Korean Hotel Rating System.
A five-star hotel must have impeccable hygiene, exceptional design and facilities, and exceptional service standards.
“I am delighted that the hotel has officially received the Inspire five-star rating, and I would like to thank our team for their hard work in all aspects of facilities, hospitality and operations management,” said Si Chen, President of Mohegan Inspire.
Mohegan CEO Ray Pineault traveled to Incheon to attend the Five Star Awards Ceremony. Pino said the classification "is a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence and our commitment to delivering a world-class experience."
Casino coming soon
Mohegan Inspire is a planned $5 billion destination project that will be completed in several additional construction phases. The resort is located at Incheon International Airport.
For Mohegan's big bet to pay off, the company (owned by Connecticut's Tribe) needed a casino. Mohegan executives expect to receive a gaming license for the resort soon and open the casino in the first quarter of 2024.
Inspire Casino is approximately 200,000 square feet and features 1,500 slot machines and 250 gaming tables. The casino is restricted to foreigners, as Koreans are not allowed to gamble in the casino, except at Gangwon Land, a remote resort owned and operated by the Korean government.
Incheon is one of the busiest airports in the world. The main commercial airport in Seoul, the capital Incheon, handled more than 71.2 million passengers in the year before the pandemic. This ranks him 14th globally.
Korea Hotel Reviews
The Korea Tourism Association has been rating hotels since 1971 as part of the government's commitment to making South Korea a desirable destination for foreign tourists.
In 2015, the Korea Tourism Association changed the hotel rating from Mugunghwa to a star rating. The change of notation is to make the assessment course more familiar to foreigners.
