Mississippi casino tourist shot to death in car, vehicle catches fire

Three people were returning to a casino hotel in Robinsonville, Mississippi, when bullets struck their car over the weekend. It then hit a pillar and burst into flames.

All passengers in the vehicle were killed. The passengers were identified as 25-year-old Tednequa Tenice Moore, 24-year-old Deshun Montarrio Isabell and 23-year-old Steven Dewayne Burts. The Tunica County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident as a multiple homicide.

Moore's father, Teddy Moore, told Tennessee television station WHBQ that the three went to a sandwich shop for dinner before returning to an unnamed casino hotel.

I just don't understand. If you have a suspect you want to solve, why kill everyone," Teddy Moore said. "She was in the car and they shot into the car. They didn't care who got hit, and they didn't, because three people died. "

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Friday on Casino Center Boulevard.

Each victim is scheduled to undergo an autopsy at the Mississippi Crime Laboratory to determine the cause and manner of death.

Local authorities have not named any suspects in the case, but a relative of one of the victims said there was a complaint about a man in the car.

Friends are possible targets

Two weeks ago, Teddy Moore heard rumors that his daughter's boyfriend was fighting with someone, WHBQ reports.

"Word on the street is that he and the guys had been arguing for a while and they shot up the house he was living in a few weeks ago and I guess they finally caught up with him," Moore revealed.

Moore said he also warned his daughter that someone might try to kill her boyfriend and that she should stay away from him for her own safety.

She ignored the warning and the three were apparently followed before the shooting.

I think they followed them, yes," Moore said."It's no coincidence that you go out with an automatic weapon and you suddenly see the person you're looking for. "

It was unclear how long the three men had been at the casino hotel before being killed.

Robinsonville is located about 30 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee, and there are several casinos in the area.

An investigator with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation's Mississippi Highway Patrol Crime Scene Unit and Mississippi Highway Patrol Reconstruction Team is leading the homicide and crash investigation. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Tunica County Sheriff's Department are also involved.
