Trial for killing with headless body. - Mishap at police station? Alleged killers walk free

A miscarriage of justice has seemingly been followed by another police blunder. Florian G., Patrick E., and Mirco P., aged 33, 42, and 46 respectively, face charges of joint murder. Four years ago, the trio is accused of brutally killing and dismembering Marco W., a 46-year-old property owner and early retiree, in his Bremen townhouse. To this day, the victim's head, hands, and feet remain unaccounted for.

The trial against these three defendants has been ongoing since 2022. However, they remain free due to a procedural error. On Tuesday, the circunstancial evidence hearing continued. However, a new setback emerged: the judge claimed that the police had committed significant mistakes during the interrogation of the suspects.

While Florian G. and Patrick E. remained silent, their companion Mirco P. partially confessed to the crime. Based on this confession, the prosecutors constructed the indictment.

Supposedly, there was a dispute between Marco W. and Florian G. on the upper floor of the townhouse in mid-April 2020. Florian G. lived there with Patrick E. in a shared apartment. Mirco P. was a visitor on that day.

Property owner and victim Marco W. was brutally and bestially murdered in his townhouse

It is alleged that the victim died after falling down the stairs and asphyxiating with a plastic bag over his head. The lifeless body of Marco W. was then allegedly dismembered with a chainsaw in the bathtub in the basement. The pieces were then buried at various locations around Bremen. So far, only the torso has been discovered.

The court invalidates the confession!

This partial confession to the crime has now been invalidated. The reason: Mirco P. was questioned by the police as a witness in October 2021, not as a defendant. Therefore, there was no lawyer present, despite his repeated requests. This is regarded as deception by the judge. Other evidence must now be used to prove that the three accused committed the crime. It remains to be seen what this evidence will be.

The body is said to have been dismembered in the cellar of this Bremen house. A fight is said to have broken out on the upper floor beforehand

The alleged murderers are set free

Florian G. and Patrick E. walked out of the trial as free men, leisurely strolling through Bremen's city center. Mirco P., however, was returned to custody. A police officer clarified: "He unexpectedly appeared on the trial days and is only in custody for this reason."

The verdict is expected on June 7.
