Ron (53) was fatally attacked while cycling. - Military discovers corpse of Hamas captive in Gaza
The Israeli military disclosed on Saturday evening that they had unearthed the remains of a man with two children who perished in the Gaza Strip. The military spokesman stated that the deceased person was recovered from a tunnel in northern Gaza alongside three others. The detainees provided this information through questioning of terrorists, the military added.
The spokesman reported that Benjamin was killed in a massacre by Hamas militants on October 7. The assailants then took his body to Gaza. However, with collaboration between the intelligence agency and the military, his remains have now been transported back to Israel.
A day later, identification of the body was made
The body could only be recognized a day later, as per Israeli newspapers. The family was then alerted of the loss of their father and husband.
Following the Hamas assault, Benjamin remained untraceable for a considerable length of time. It was nearly two months later that the Israeli security forces figured out that he had been abducted to Gaza.
The last time his kin received communication from him was at 7.30 a.m. on the day of the massacre. When the air raid sirens went off due to intensive rocket strikes from Gaza, Benjamin recorded a voice message for one of his two daughters. He had curtailed a bicycle journey because of the alert and was en route home to Rehovot, he mentioned.
Nevertheless, Benjamin never arrived home.
Hamas continues to detain 128 additional individuals, 39 of whom have been confirmed dead. The Israeli army surmises that several of the abductees are with the final Hamas units in the city of Rafah, prompting the initiation of a military operation in the area.
