Announcement from the Formula 1's Top Winner - Might Verstappen make the shift to McLaren?
Are question marks rising once more about Max Verstappen's (26) future?
According to the data gathered during the recent race in Imola, Max Verstappen's Red Bull wasn't the quickest car on the track, even with his ultimate victory.
If we solely focus on the free-flowing laps without pit stops, Lando Norris' (24) McLaren was 0.06 seconds quicker than Verstappen's.
Is Verstappen now considering shifting to McLaren?
At the beginning of the season, Verstappen stated about his future, "I aspire to be in the quickest vehicle, as I've always told the team. That's what we possess currently, and that's what we could have next year as well."
But what if that ain't Red Bull anymore? During the match at Imola, the Dutchman grabbed his fifth Formula 1 win of the season. He achieved this victory due to his flawless performance.
Motorsport head honcho Dr. Helmut Marko (81) also conceded this, "We only scored the points because Verstappen drove impeccably."
Verstappen boosts his price tag with each triumph
Like Michael Schumacher (55) and Ayrton Senna († 34) had accomplished in the past, Verstappen snags victories that he's not supposed to. This is making the rival teams eager - Mercedes in particular is hungry to seduce the three-time world champion to the Silver Arrows. If not next year, then from 2026.
But Christian Horner (51) is also struggling under mounting pressure. The Red Bull team leader knows that the only way they can triumph is through Verstappen's presence. He had saved Horner once before when a power feud between Horner and Dr. Helmut Marko (81) was threatening to shatter the championship squad.
After numerous controversies, a two-race sweep from Verstappen settled the dust. Peace seemed to have returned to Red Bull for quite some time now. The Horner ruckus seems to be in the past.
However, the Red Bull foundation is crumbling. After weeks of speculation, chief designer Adrian Newey (65) exited Red Bull following the Miami race. The initial crucial piece is gone. It's a sad time for the bulls to be losing steam.
If they do, the inquiries about Max Verstappen's impending future could become more boisterous...
