Second try at working with an England professional. - Might Kompany land Tuchel's ideal signing?

Bayern Munich has found their new coach – former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will be replacing Thomas Tuchel. The task ahead for Kompany is to revamp the squad after the team's first title-less season since 2012. There's a possibility that he might secure the signing of a player his predecessor was desperate to bring in.

Portuguese midfielder Joao Palhinha (28), who plays for Premier League club Fulham, was a strong contender to join Bayern last summer. He had even arrived in Munich but the £65 million deal couldn't go through, leading to the signing of Eric Dier instead.

Will Vincent Kompany bring in Joao Palhinha now?

In an interview with "Flashscore", Palhinha spoke about the possibility of joining Bayern, "I don't know if it's a closed chapter or not. In football, anything is possible. I don't want to talk about it right now but focus on the Euros."

A part of the Fulham squad since 2022, Palhinha has featured in 79 games for the English club. His contract lasts until 2028. So, will he stay put at Fulham next season? Palhinha answered with a "Yes, that's the plan," but then added a "but..."

Palhinha: "In football, you never know what the next day will bring. My whole career, I've dreamed of playing on those big stages in world football. There was already an opportunity that everyone knows about. Right now, the future is with Fulham, but we'll see what happens. I have great respect for the Fulham organization. People know that I am professional."

In March, Palhinha opened up about how the botched deal last year still affected him, "It's a story from the past, but it will always be a chapter in my career. That incident felt like a punch in the gut back then, but life goes on. All I can do is work harder so that someday I get another chance."

Joao Palhinha was supposed to move to Munich last summer. But the deal fell through
