A potential escalation situation looms ahead. - Might Israel detractors be orchestrating retaliation following university expulsion?

The vibe on Berlin's colleges is pretty intense, even though the camps, slogans, and Palestinian flags have vanished... temporarily. More protests might be underway soon, according to college students. Maybe Monday, possibly even more forceful than before.

Authorities are chatting with the academia

Interestingly, the cops are regularly conversing with the educational institutions and even offering support, according to the marketing department, regarding potential uprisings. They also plan to notify leaders at Freie Universität if they hear anything about it.

"I've learned that Palestinian protesters have been active in these demonstrations for a while," explains Islam specialist Ahmad Mansour (47).

Recent events on the FU campus. The institution's kicking out the Israel-protestors is the main topic of conversation. Three students are lounging on a lawn near the previous camping area. One of them says, "The uni called the police. That was absolutely wild; I've never seen anything like it before."

A student studying "economics of feminism" chimes in, "How can you even have a discussion like this when only one side is heard from the start?" which counters the Israeli side.

Student: "I've heard rumors that things will escalate again next week. A lot of stuff is being organized via Telegram. We need to create forums where we can talk openly about anti-Semitism."

A third interjects, "I wouldn't hang out with people who are anti-Jewish, glamorize Hamas, and ignore the Nazi past when Israel was formed. I'd likely protest against half of the Palestine movement too, but I also want to show my support for Palestinian civilians." However, "it can't be that you're afraid in Berlin just because you're Jewish."

Pro-Israel stickers at the university

This talk highlights the broad range of opinions at FU Berlin. Several stickers encouraging Israel can be found on campus. One says "Screw Hamas". Another reads "Bring Them Home", a reference to Israeli captives in Gaza. A third sticker depicts an Israeli lion eating a watermelon - whose colors represent the Palestinian flag.

The watermelon is a symbol of the Palestinian movement

Debate even exists at the university's subway station. One person wrote, "* IDF , Stop genocide". Someone crossed out "****" and replaced it with "Love", replacing the IDF reference - the Israel Defense Forces - with the Israeli army.
