Michael Mina Returns to Mandalay Bay for a Second Stint, Resorts World Plans for a Rose Slushy Restaurant
Award-winning chef Michael Mina is preparing to launch his second restaurant at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Tentatively opening in winter, Orla will serve a variety of seafood dishes from worldwide cuisines such as Mediterranean, North African, Western Asian, and European.
The new dining spot will take over from Fleur, the French regional steakhouse that Chef Hubert Keller set up at the hotel in 2005.
In addition to StripSteak at Mandalay Bay and the renowned Michael Mina at the Bellagio, Mina also operates this establishment.
Frosés and Wine: A New Phenomenon
Resorts World will introduce Las Vegas' first-ever Co-op Frosé & Eatery this fall. This innovative eatery, dedicated to serving frozen rosé wine, will set up two kiosks on the casino floor and an Airstream at the pool. It's expected to offer around 50 different rosé slushies, with a rotating seasonal selection of about 10 options available at any given time. Complementing the slushies will be sandwiches for those who prefer a little food with their drinks.
The frosé trend actually originated from the Strip's alcoholic slushy offerings that have been around for at least two decades.
Co-op Frosé & Eatery has been rapidly expanding across the Southeast and now counts two former NFL quarterbacks among its investors - Eli Manning in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Sam Bradford at Resorts World.
Feasting In sin city
Brett Raymer, known for his appearances on reality TV for his work as a Las Vegas-based custom fish tank builder, partnered with Chef Anthony Monte to launch "Tanked" on Animal Planet. Now, they're opening their second restaurant, Stallone's Italian Eatery, next to the sportsbook at Santa Fe Station Hotel and Casino this year.
Meanwhile, Leoncito, a "modern Mexican restaurant," is set to open in October at Red Rock Resorts. This will replace Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar in its former space.
By August 31, Joel's Chophouse will be operational at the Ahern Luxury Boutique Hotel, which was previously the Lucky Dragon. Chef Joel Ott has taken over as the hotel's executive chef. Formerly the space was occupied by Chef Marc's Italian Steakhouse.
