MGM Resorts Launches Dog Cop Trading Cards in Las Vegas
At MGM Resorts' 12 properties along the Las Vegas Strip, visitors can now take home souvenirs beyond the usual toiletries. Canines working as security guardians for the hospitality corporation are now distributing trading cards featuring their K9 colleagues.
Not only that, you've always been entitled to your hotel toiletries since they can't reuse them legally.
The concept came into existence because of hundreds of yearly requests from guests requesting to meet and pet their pooch security handlers - despite the "DO NOT PET" harnesses they wear.
Danny O'Connell, Senior Manager for the Corporate K-9 Unit at MGM Resorts, confirmed to KTVN-TV/Las Vegas that although it's against company regulations, "Unfortunately, we can't allow it."
Professional K9 officers of private security services, just like those in law enforcement, undergo intense training for more than six months in search, track, and apprehending crimes.
By sharing the trading cards, there is an enjoyable connection between everyone and awareness that their role is to help maintain safety.
The cards showcase each dog, with photos of their names on the front. The back provides their unique characteristics.
For example, Ollie is a 4-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog who "really enjoys attending concerts at MGM Grand Arena and the various residencies at Dolby Live at Park MGM."
Given how much Ollie must've enjoyed Snoop Dogg's May 14, 2022 performance at Mandalay Bay's Michelob Ultra Arena, it's safe to say he loves music!
K9 handlers now keep these cards on hand to give out to guests who request them or ask if they could pet the dogs.
