MGM Resorts increases self-parking prices at nine of its Las Vegas casinos
That's not the kind of raise most visitors to Las Vegas are hoping for this holiday season.
MGM Resorts International on Friday raised parking fees at all nine of its casino resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. The resort company charges out-of-state visitors a daily self-parking fee of $18 Monday through Thursday and $25 Friday through Sunday.
Add $15 for 1-4 hours Monday-Thursday, $20 Friday-Sunday. No more first free period.
The change takes effect Wednesday without prior notice.
Nevada residents continue to enjoy three hours of free self-parking, except for special events.
Complimentary self-parking is also available to hotel guests, certain MGM Rewards members, active duty military, veterans and their spouses. Valet parking fees remain unchanged.
All fees
Until 2016, free self-parking was a staple of the Las Vegas Strip. That year, MGM — which operates the Bellagio, Aria, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Park MGM, Mirage, New York-New York, Luxor and Excalibur casinos — There is a traditional fee for being the first casino company to open a casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
As a selling point, most competitors keep free self-parking for a year or two. Finally everyone gave in. Longtime resisters Wynn and Encore relented on September 28, blaming pressure from The Sphere.
Now only Treasure Island, Circus Circus, Casino Royale and Sahara offer free parking to everyone - although the Tropical Garden Hotel already charges for some of the better spots.
