Watching real-time broadcast of events. - Metallica kicks off their two-show performance in Munich with a bang.
In Munich, Metallica, the well-known heavy metal band, kicked off their double concert with a severe storm of loud music. The audience of roughly 70,000 individuals was transported through approximately 40 years of the band's history while experiencing the Olympic Stadium as the world's metal headquarters.
Metallica, led by vocalist James Hetfield, performed timeless songs including "Nothing Else Matters" and "Whiplash," along with tracks from their most recent album, "72 Seasons."
"Hofbräuhaus Funk Jam"
To honor their devoted German fans, Metallica unveiled a special song composed just for this evening: "Hofbräuhaus Funk Jam." This dynamic instrumental piece, featuring two guitars, included an almost continuous succession of intense bass, incessant guitar solos, and light and pyrotechnic showcases. Just as the instruments took a momentary rest, the fans' united singing filled the stadium with a cathedral-like ambiance.
The band members performed on a circular stage and regularly switched positions. Those die-hard devotees hailed from the "snake pit," a spot where they could see their beloved idols up close.
Metallica will present their second concert on Sunday. To keep things interesting, they won't repeat the same songs from the first performance. This unique approach, dubbed "No Repeat Weekend," is making waves on their extensive European tour; in fact, there are several anticipated guest appearances lined up as part of this double feature. The next festival performance is slated for June 1st near Vienna.
