Burning incidents occur. - Meppen's embankment fire now permits resumed railway operations.

After a blaze near Meppen along the Rheine-Papenburg railway line, the tracks were reopened. The disruption on Tuesday afternoon was resolved late that night, reported police.

The police and fire department received multiple emergency calls on Tuesday afternoon indicating that the embankment in a track bed was on fire at numerous spots, as mentioned in a police announcement. The fires occurred along the Rheine-Papenburg railroad line from the municipality of Haren to Meppen's train station.

Apparently, the cause of the embankment fires was sparks produced by the brakes of two freight wagons, said a representative from the Bad Bentheim Federal Police. The shutdown impacted Deutsche Bahn's Leer-Münster route and Westfalenbahn's regional services.
