Court case in Berlin - Member of a clan swiped chocolate worth thousands of euros.

One man, Fadie R. (33), a member of a certain group and known in Moabit, is about to face a court hearing. The accusation against him is that he and his accomplice had broken into supermarkets, drugstores, and clothing stores eleven times and stole goods using shopping carts in big quantities without paying. Their intentions were to sell these goods at a higher price.

Three such attempts were made, and Fadie R. admitted all the charges against him. He shared, "I'm ashamed of what I've done," when asked about the unfortunate incident.

On a personal note, Fadie R. shared that he has had a tough time in life. His two brothers, Nidal R. (36) and Mohamed R. (25), had met with unfortunate ends. The first brother, Nidal R., was shot eight times at Tempelhofer Feld on September 9, 2018. Unfortunately, the assailant hasn't been caught yet. His other brother, Mohamed R., was stabbed to death at Hasenheide during the Neukölln May Days on April 30, 2022. In February 2024, Omar O. (22) was given a 8-year sentence for killing with base motives.

Before his current situation, Fadie R. revealed that he had turned to drugs out of depression, which in turn resulted in more financial strain. He confessed, "I wanted to work, but due to my political identity as a Palestinian, I was never granted a work permit in Berlin." He further explained, "I would wake up at 8 am hoping to start a job, but all I heard was, 'Sorry, that's the law'."

His life so far has been filled with nothing but stress, violence, problems, and police raids like the one that occurred on a Friday morning in November 2023. Fadie R. was arrested as a suspect in the series of thefts while he was at his home in Charlottenburg.

All he could say consciously was, "Yes, I did a lot of sh... ...", in court admitting to his actions. He expressed his longing for drug therapy to make amends for his past actions. "I want to take the right path," he added, with hopes for a better life for himself and his children. The trial continues on Tuesday.
