Journey to Nigeria - Meghan bypasses England journey with Harry; a journey to her origin is in the plans.
When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry chose to leave the UK, it was unclear if they would come back to the island occasionally. However, it became evident that Prince Harry would certainly make visits here and there. As for Meghan, she's only made a few appearances, such as during Queen Elizabeth's passing celebrations.
Prince Harry heads to London without Meghan
The 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry, is happening in London on May 8. These festivities will be held at St. Paul's Cathedral in central London. Spokespeople for the Sussexes have revealed that Meghan will not be accompanying her husband on this trip to London and participating in the event. Moreover, no member of the royal family is expected to be there. This will be Prince Harry's first time in the UK since his sister-in-law, Princess Kate, revealed her cancer diagnosis. The Duke of Sussex visited the UK in February for a meeting with his father, King Charles III that lasted half an hour.
Although Meghan won't be watching the celebrations in London, she'll be fostering the Invictus Games elsewhere. Quickly after Harry's UK trip, the couple will head to Africa, specifically Nigeria. One of their hosts is a military official from the Nigerian defense staff who has extended an invitation to them. Much like in London, Nigeria will focus on the Invictus Games. Brigadier General Tukur Vusau said, "The purpose of the visit is to consolidate Nigeria's strong position at the Games and to explore the possibility of hosting the event in future years."
Trip to Nigeria with Prince Harry
Nigeria, along with Colombia and Israel, participated in the Invictus Games for the first time in September last year. Harry welcomed these newcomers to the event in person in Düsseldorf back then. "We're happy to have new nations joining us," he said. "Let's hear it for Colombia, Israel, and Nigeria." He then added humorously, "I'm not saying we're playing favorites at home, but since my wife found out she's of Nigerian descent, it's probably going to be a bit more exciting this year."
