Gargantuan hole forms on the limb. - Megan's dry skin turned out to be a form of cancer.

Close to the "Daily Mail" in England, a woman from Leicester tells her story of pain and medical failures. It all started with a mole that turned into a massive cavity in her leg. Megan shares: "I was 15 years old, and my grandmother didn't like how my mole looked. She suggested I see a doctor."

The young girl listened, but her family doctor didn't seem concerned about the small mole on her left leg. He believed it was just dry skin based on a visual check and gave Megan a few creams to help with the issue.

However, these creams didn't have any effect, and the mole only grew larger and darker as time went on. Megan described it as the size of a coin, yet despite her numerous visits to her family doctor, he was still convinced it was just dry skin.

Over the years, Megan visited her family doctor approximately 30 times for this liver spot. But because the doctor thought it was just a harmless skin condition, she didn't receive the necessary treatment.

Luckily, when Megan was 28 years old, her family doctor referred her to a dermatologist. After taking a closer look, the dermatologist recognized it as a malignant melanoma, a type of skin cancer that's known for its aggressive nature.

As Megan remembers, "As soon as I walked into the dermatologist's office, they asked if I came alone, and that's when I knew something was amiss." She quickly started a lengthy treatment process.

Unfortunately, the doctor had to perform a complex removal procedure due to the years of misdiagnosis, which had allowed the cancer to grow deeper into her leg. The crater left behind serves as a reminder of her fortunate escape.

Currently, Megan is cancer-free, thanks in part to her grandmother's advice and her own persistence. She urges other patients not to give up and to challenge their doctors if they feel something isn't right.
