A Czech woman thought she had a hernia in her abdomen. - Medical professionals successfully extract a massive 19-kilogram tumor from a senior citizen aged 76.

Marie, a 76-year-old woman, was set to undergo a routine hernia operation at a hospital in Jindřichův Hradec, Czech Republic. What nobody knew then was that a truly remarkable medical event was on the horizon.

Suffering from a hernia (a bulge of internal organs pressing through the abdominal wall), Marie didn't seem to be in any immediate danger. However, it turned out that the doctors were about to tackle a much more severe issue.

A rapidly growing, life-threatening tumor had developed in her stomach!

As the days passed, Marie's condition worsened, and by the end of the year, she couldn't breathe without assistance. Desperate to save her life, the doctors quickly scheduled a surgery to remove the gigantic growth.

The operation, which took a staggering four hours, was incredibility complicated. The surgeons extracted a 19-kilogram tumor that had been rapidly harming her vital organs.

Post-surgery complications eventually arose, and Marie ended up spending three long months on the ICU. Half of this time was spent in an artificial coma, with her life precariously hanging in the balance.

Despite this difficult journey, Marie never lost hope. Her greatest motivation was her wish to be with her grandchildren again, a responsibility she'd taken on following her daughter's passing 13 years prior.

"The will to live plays a significant role in success," remarked Chief Surgeon Lukáš Havlůj.

As Marie recuperated in the hospital, doctors studied the tumor and discovered that it was a type of rare liposarcoma. This tumor is formed within the fatty tissue of the body and can grow virtually anywhere, including the abdominal cavity, extremities, and near the kidneys - as in Marie's case.

Liposarcomas can vary greatly in size, sometimes weighing over 100 kilograms. Thanks to their incredible skill, the doctors had successfully removed this massive, never-before-seen tumor.
