Focuses on Tuchel and Hoeneß - Matthäus discusses the disorder at Bayern.

Following the early exit of coach Thomas Tuchel from FC Bayern at the end of the season, discussion about his future return has resurfaced. With several rejections from the likes of Alonso, Nagelsmann, Rangnick, and Glasner, he now competes with Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi as a top candidate.

For Matthäus, the possible reversal in roles represents the turmoil in Munich. He states, "From Tuchel's perspective, I'd say: He doesn't need to stay at Bayern. Particularly since I believe he still holds a grudge against the club. Other top European clubs would eagerly welcome him."

Uli Hoeneß, Bayern's honorary president, has heavily criticized and verbally attacked Tuchel at a recent event. The crux of the criticism revolved around Hoeneß's claim that Tuchel requested expensive new players rather than nurturing young talent on his own.

After Tuchel's rebuttal on Sky before the game in Frankfurt (2:1/27.4), he asserted, "I've been hurt in my coaching honor."

Will Tuchel remain with the German record champions? In negotiations between Tuchel and Bayern, an extension of his contract beyond 2025 is a topic of discussion. Otherwise, the Premier League holds considerable appeal. Man United, among others, has him on its list of potential coaches if they part ways with Eric ten Hag.

In the midst of the Bayern turmoil, Matthäus is excited about the upcoming European Championship (June 14 to July 14) taking place in Germany.

Matthäus enthuses, "I'm already looking forward to the European Championship and closely monitoring the list of nominations. But first, we have domestic games to finish: I'm thrilled to play in both the Conference and Europa League finals and then the DFB Cup final."

On Thursday (May 16/13:00), coach Julian Nagelsmann will unveil the squad for the host European Championship 2024 in Berlin. However, the DFB has adopted an unconventional approach leading up to the announcement: Approximately a dozen names will be unveiled through the media, celebrities, influencers, and fans.

After the championship, Leverkusen will vie for the treble in the Europa League (May 22 / against Atalanta Bergamo) and the DFB Cup final (May 25 / against Kaiserlaustern). Olympiakos Piraeus and Florence will contend for the Conference League title (May 29).

Matthäus will then serve as the RTL analyst for all three European Cup finals.
