Looking back, the car wreck was likely no surprise, considering the player's wife later tested positive for alcohol. Her BAC read 0.5 per mille, which is double the legal limit in Spain.
The incident involved her driving with a friend before the night came to an abrupt end at a traffic circle.
Trying to dodge responsibility, her companion initially claimed that he had been behind the wheel instead.
