Body of funeral director discovered in car's cargo area - Marie G., aged 19, was given her desired funeral arrangement.
A young mortician envisioned her departure from life in a plain wooden casket adorned with blue blossoms. She shared her thoughts on her profession in an article, penned during her formative years at Trinity Cemetery in Regensburg. Relatives and friends have now bade farewell to her in her hometown of Falkenstein, Bavaria.
Approximately ten days earlier, police found Marie's vehicle with a shattered window on a parking garage in Regensburg. A kinsman unfortunately discovered her lifeless body inside the trunk. Days later, funeral attendant Thomas B. (55) was arrested. Reports suggest he killed her over her desire to break free from their relationship.
Marie's kin and friends offer tribute
"We can't comprehend the barbaric murder of Marie," says Priest Adolf Schöls in front of a crowded Christusbruderschaft. There's no explanation for the why. "We grieve as it's all too common for people to treat one another in such savage ways and take their lives," he adds.
At the funeral service, notable orator Rainer Turba revisits the adorable traits that defined Marie: "Marie was adored by her coworkers at the Regensburg funeral establishment and even elicited a fear of her competence."
A life full of unforeseen turns
The day she was murdered, Marie had been honored with her degree certificate, was set to receive a prize, and had finalized her contract for her very first apartment in Burglengenfeld. Rainer Turba, the eulogist, enthused, "We were so proud of this girl breaking into a male-dominated industry!"
From the get-go, Marie anticipated surprises - so much so that her parents assumed she'd be a boy instead. For her 18th birthday, she received a pink drill from Makita, a screwdriver manufacturer.
When her dad suggested she take up an apprenticeship with the city of Regensburg and they were actively seeking morticians, she spent the night watching TikTok videos. And in her first year as a trainee mortician, she laid her own grandfather to rest. Rainer Turba recalls, "Mourners frequently thanked her for her tender assistance."
"Dying is just another aspect of living," Marie expressed in the write-up about her career choice. "Death is nothing strange or bad." Sadly, this didn't include her own tragic end.
