DFB Cup Final Match - Many Lautern supporters rejoice at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin.
Thousands of enthusiastic Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Kaiserslautern soccer fans are gearing up for the DFB Cup final in Berlin. More than 10,000 supporters in FCK jerseys or red T-shirts made especially for the big match could be seen on Breitscheidplatz around noon.
At the same time, Hammarskjöldplatz in front of the exhibition halls at the radio tower, a gathering spot for followers of the German soccer champions from Leverkusen, was slowly filling up. Coach Xabi Alonso's squad is the clear favorite against the second division team in the 8 p.m. (ARD and Sky) game at the Olympic Stadium.
Both clubs have been given 23,700 tickets each for their fans, all of which have been sold out by now. Around 30,000 Leverkusen fans are predicted to travel to the capital, while around 20,000 more are expected from Kaiserslautern and the surrounding area.
