After the flooding incident in Saarland, its Minister President, Anke Rehlinger, has expressed the need for mandatory insurance against harm inflicted by natural elements. "For a very long time, all 16 federal states have agreed that compulsory insurance for hazards resulting from nature is of the utmost importance. However, we're still waiting for a draft from the federal government," remarked the SPD leader to Funke media group publications, per Saarland's state chancellery.
She voiced her frustration, "I can't comprehend how we experience the same realization every time - from floods and floods, and the Federal Minister of Justice simply looks on while countless individuals suffer and taxpayers bear the burden of these damages again."
On June 14th, Saarland intends to submit a motion to the Bundesrat meeting and will also raise the issue at the next Conference of Minister Presidents scheduled for June 20th.
Hazards of natural origin are those damages brought about by forces of nature. This includes damages caused by flooding, storms, and landslides. A Whitsun flood in Saarland has inflicted millions of euros in losses.
