Severe collision occurs near central hub. - Man struck by U1 train: Potential threat to his life!
One Saturday night, a man around 40 struggled and ended up on the tracks of Hamburg's central train station. An approaching U-Bahn train didn't notice the man, unfortunately, and hit him.
Shortly afterward, the rescue services received a frantic call at around 7:28 PM. Shaken witnesses had reported the incident that occurred at the U1 station's platform.
Major rescue effort at the main station
Upon receiving this information, responders rushed to the location for a massive rescue mission. They evacuated the train, which was full of around 1000 people. They successfully took out the hurt 40-year-old from the tracks. To ensure safety, they turned off the power to the tracks during the rescue process.
One paramedic attended to the hurt man who had sustained severe injuries. He was transported to a hospital where medical professionals with intensive care capabilities awaited.
To help the U-Bahn driver cope with the aftermath of this traumatic situation, a chaplain stepped in. And two other affected witnesses also got the comfort and support they needed through the chaplain's guidance.
Those present mentioned that the man had been staggering along the platform right before his fall. It remains a mystery if he was intoxicated or had a medical issue.
The rescue halted train traffic on the affected track.
