Man in Nevada Claims He Lost His Head After Asking for Intimate Act

A 45-year-old woman named Devyn Michaels was taken into custody this week for allegedly murdering her on-again, off-again partner, Johnathan James Willette, 46, in their Henderson, Nev. home.

Willette had asked Michaels to perform an unidentified sexual act on him. She refused and is now accused of taking his life in response to his demand.

On August 7, Willette's mother discovered his severed headless body on a bed in their Pala Dura Drive home.

Michaels, who is the mother of Willette's children, is said to have been in a relationship with him.

The area where Willette's head was supposed to be found was blanketed and covered in blood at the time of his mother's discovery, as per a Henderson Police Department report mentioned by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The whereabouts of the head remain uncertain.

Assertions of Abuse

Michaels informed police that Willette had been abusive towards her and a child. However, it is unknown if they have substantiated these claims.

Furthermore, Michaels stated that Willette would stand and watch while a child showered. The couple shared two daughters, as per the Review-Journal.

When speaking to law enforcement, Michaels admitted to hitting Willette on the head with a stake while they were on the bed. She expressed that she only wanted to inflict enough damage so Willette would have to be hospitalized. Michaels has never admitted to decapitating him, but specified that this was her goal, as per KLAS.

The Missing Meat Cleaver

Henderson authorities did not specify what weapon was used but Willette's mother mentioned that a meat cleaver had gone missing from their kitchen, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

When they arrived at the scene, officers noticed a subtle cloud emanating from Willette's headless body, as if chemicals were being applied to the deceased. This leads them to suspect that bleach and ammonia were used to conceal the crime, police added.

On the night prior to her son's discovery, Willette's mother claimed she saw Michaels in the house with him. The following day, Michaels, who was washing dishes, told Michaels' mother that her son was intoxicated.

Willette's mother became concerned when she heard barking dogs and noticed her son's vehicle still parked at the residence. She found his body about an hour later.

Although Michaels doesn't reside with Willette at Pala Dura Drive, the couple had been planning to live together.

Michaels is married to Willette's son. She claimed to have wed her stepson due to unspecified medical reasons, KLAS reported.

Lie Detector Test

After apprehending Michaels, authorities subjected her to a polygraph exam. She experienced a notable physical response when asked if she was involved in Willette's death, as per KLAS.

As of this week, the Clark County coroner's office is conducting an autopsy on Willette.

Henderson is just southeast of Las Vegas.
