Man Dies at Baton Rouge Casino Construction Site: A Tragic Accident

A person sustained fatal injuries after apparently falling off a roof at the construction site for Louisiana's Belle of Baton Rouge Casino on Thursday. The casino, originally located on the riverfront, is being moved to dry land. The reason for the fall and the victim's identity have not been revealed.

In February, two workers were injured at the same site. One worker sustained fractures while the other experienced shoulder and elbow pain. The incident was caused by a broken cable that was attached to a ramp, leading to lights, ceiling fans, and glass doors falling to the floor.

Three suspects were arrested last month for a human trafficking operation at Mississippi's Golden Moon Hotel and Casino. One individual was identified as a victim, but their age is currently unknown. One of the suspects was charged with a child pornography offense and may face additional charges for sexually assaulting a minor. Another suspect was arrested for possessing crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. The authorities seized two guns, a gram of methamphetamine, three grams of cocaine, 31 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of marijuana, and two cell phones during the search. The operation was shut down between April 12-13.

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, who operate the casino, issued a statement saying that the arrests were made "without incidents" and expressed their concerns about the impact of the seized firearms and arrests on the community. The gaming property is situated near Philadelphia, Miss.

A man, Lance Halderman, who owed child support, was recently arrested for allegedly having someone else collect his winnings from an Indiana casino. The incident occurred on March 22 at Blue Chip Casino, where Halderman won approximately $2000 from a slot machine. He asked someone else to claim the winnings and later promised to pay that person $100. If found guilty, Halderman could face up to 30 months in custody. The individual who collected the money was not charged.

Blue Chip Casino is a riverboat casino in Michigan City that is owned by Boyd Gaming.
