Man confines ailing parent for multiple days.

Michael K., 36, neglected his 73-year-old mother, Christina J., who had both rheumatism and dementia. Rather than providing care for her, he confined her in her apartment for extended periods, where she was surrounded by her own waste and unable to eat due to her health conditions.

Over a two-and-a-half-year term behind bars - Man confines ailing parent for multiple days.

❗ Someone from Cologne is now spending two and a half years in prison after putting his mother through a harrowing experience. The court ruling states he faced charges of depriving freedom, maltreating a person under his protection, and negligent bodily harm.

At Wednesday's trial held in the Cologne district court, accounts of a grim situation were provided by witnesses. Paramedics and police described J.'s home as a depressing environment, with a camera trained on the bed.

A police officer remarked, "It was quite a terrible situation. It appeared as if the woman had been intentionally left there."

Son chose to imprison his mother

Per his lawyer, the man had locked his mother's apartment to protect her from escaping due to her dementia.

The precise length of time his mother was left alone in the apartment couldn't be specified, but it's believed to have been several days. A cleaner had noticed Christina J. was in distress, noting not even a single visitor had attended to her. Finally, the fire department had to force entry and found the mother unharmed.

Regarding the son, Michael K.'s representation shared that he had been struggling to cope. He had previously attempted using marijuana and cocaine, while also juggling his job, children, and marriage. His lawyer added, "He needed assistance. He realizes that now."

Christina J. lived in this first floor apartment.
