For a protracted period, there were murmurs in England that the Catalan reverie doing something similar to colleague Klopp (56). The ex-Liverpool trainer explicated his exit and vowed to take a respite. However, the longevity of his break remains unclear. Likewise, will Guardiola linger and then bow out after ManCity is anyone's guess.

After his departure from FC Barcelona (2008-2012), he proclaimed an "absence spell," a whole year away from any work, before delving into the world of coaching at FC Bayern.

After the coming season, this could mark a repeat. After a respite, Guardiola might snatch the reins of a national team. This goal has long lurked in his dreams. He openly shared his aspirations in April at "ESPN": "I cherish the prospect of handling a national team in a World Cup or an Euro Championship."

And further on: "It's about desire. To lead a national team, you have to be desired just as when managing a club."
