In Germany, a 46-year-old fellow in Bad Bentheim, Lower Saxony, took a risky action at the train station. When he realized he had missed the Intercity train due to a long cigarette break, and his personal belongings were still inside, he jumped onto a moving train.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, a police officer was on board the train. She noticed the man standing between the locomotive and the first wagon, traveling at a high speed of 140 km/h. It was quite dangerous! She quickly alerted the train personnel, who managed to stop the IC on an open stretch of track.
The man was safely taken to Rheine station, where he was greeted by the Federal Police. They are currently investigating this strange incident.
