Individual aimed to visit Turkey through Poland. - Man (46) Slain in Berlin Park; Suspect Detained
The police swiftly identified the suspect involved in a recent crime. Further inquiries revealed that he planned to escape to Turkey the day after the incident. He intended to leave the country through a Polish airport.
Polish law enforcement authorities apprehended the Turkish national, who is now being held in custody in their country.
On a Wednesday, following a joint request by the Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office, a national and European arrest warrant was granted by the Tiergarten district court.
The Incident
On Tuesday night in Südpankepark on Chausseestraße in Berlin-Wedding, an argument occurred between the perpetrator and the 46-year-old victim. The latter sustained severe injuries.
Emergency services were notified and attempted to revive the victim, yet their efforts proved futile as it was too late.
The police cordoned off the park and closed Chausseestraße. The neighboring streets were extensively searched for relevant evidence.
The investigation was subsequently taken over by the 5th homicide squad, leading to their apparent success in the case.
