Macron denounces unrest prior to France's soccer cup final.

Supporters of opposing teams waged war with smoke bombs at a toll booth on the highway, according to Bertrand Gaume, prefect of Département du Nord. He described the events as "severely violent scuffles."

Emmanuel Macron, the French President, denounced the violent confrontations. "These are sports events where we should primarily be cheerful and fair," he said whilst in Tourcoing, during an appearance at the town. Macron then proceeded to watch PSG's 2:1 victory against Lyon in the cup final at the Lille stadium.
