Maassen's Union of Value participates in Brandenburg's election.

The ex-head of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Hans-Georg Maassen (61), launched the Brandenburg state chapter of the Values Union recently. He intends to bridge the divide between the CDU and AfD, potentially forging a coalition with the far-right party and the Greens.

Rivalry among parties for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) - Maassen's Union of Value participates in Brandenburg's election.

Approximately thirty individuals showed up for the initial meeting in Kremmen's Scheunenviertel region ahead of the upcoming Brandenburg elections. Maaßen, the party's leader, was optimistic, "I'm certain we'll succeed," he declared. "There are numerous dissatisfied voters who used to support the CDU, but now realize they don't want to vote for a radical party - they prefer a more bourgeois one."

In January, Maaßen left the CDU. He was suggested for expulsion by the federal executive due to his use of "language associated with anti-Semitism and conspiracy theorists, along with völkisch expressions". Currently, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution is keeping an eye on him as a potential right-wing extremist. He's contesting this.

Both Maaßen and the AfD, along with Sahra Wagenknecht, hope to align with Putin's resources. "That's our national interest," claimed Maaßen. Unfortunately, refugees are slated for deportation. The CDU in Brandenburg has even exceeded the Union of Values, with leader Jan Redmann urging "criminals should be deported to war zones".

Maaßen criticized this statement, stating, "It sounds impressive, but the CDU won't be able to accomplish that. They're just grandchild swindlers. Their vehicles are black, but after the election, they'll adapt to their coalition partners."

The Werteunion aims to "forge alliances with anyone who supports our ideas. Even the Greens and the AfD." However, the odds are stacked against them. In Saxony and Thuringia, Maassen's party is polling at one percent, while in Brandenburg, it hasn't registered on the radar yet. State chairperson Anna-Sophia Werz (53) was elected. She opposes "deportation prisons," supports "Tesla development," advocates for "wind and solar energy," and disapproves the "loud and offensive nature of the AfD."
