Institutions of higher learning - Lübeck universities witnessing surge in new companies

Lübeck's universities are witnessing a surge in start-up activity. In 2023, a total of 15 students, professors, and lecturers formed their own businesses, reported TH Lübeck on Tuesday. This is nearly three times the number from 2022. Out of these 15 start-ups, 7 teams originated from TH Lübeck, 6 teams from the University of Lübeck, and 2 teams were established across institutions. According to the stats, the start-ups hail from various fields such as civil engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, and natural sciences, and more.

Transferring knowledge is a top priority for the universities in Lübeck, said Gabriele Gillessen-Kaesbach, the interim president of the university. Her counterpart at TH Lübeck, Muriel Helbig, called the growth in start-up activity on the Lübeck campus a resounding success story.

As per the information provided, the founders receive assistance and guidance in the GründerCube on the Lübeck campus. They receive help with drafting their business plans, information on target markets, financial planning, cost planning, and marketing.
