Offering assistance in various tasks. - Logistics workers receive higher compensation due to a negotiated contract.
North Rhine-Westphalia's workers in the logistics and freight forwarding sector will soon receive more money. The union Verdi and the North Rhine-Westphalia Transport and Logistics Association (VVWL) revealed on Tuesday that they had reached an agreement on a new collective wage agreement. Under the terms, employees will be entitled to a 5.7% pay rise in October, a further 4.3% in October 2025, and an additional 4% in October 2026. To top it off, bonuses have been increased, and improvements have been made for employees. The contract will last until March 1, 2027, and will impact approximately 178,000 people, says Verdi.
Grossstück, the head negotiator for Verdi, expressed his relief. "We've managed to reach an agreement that accounts for inflation and provides a raise, even if not a significant one," he remarked. While the compromise on the duration of the agreement might not have been ideal, Verdi is elated with this latest accomplishment. This development, Verdi believes, can help make the industry even more appealing. Companies like Hermes, DPD, UPS, Schenker Deutschland, FedEx, Kühne und Nagel, and Bönders Spedition in NRW have agreed to abide by these collective agreements.
