Movement of People or Relocation of Individuals - Local authorities discover eight Syrian refugees hidden in a forested location.
A group of eight disoriented Syrian refugees were discovered in a forest area close to the Austrian border in Upper Bavaria by federal police, as announced on Tuesday. It was revealed that they had been brought across the border by an unidentified smuggler. A spokesperson for the Federal Police revealed that these refugees were not in any kind of enclosed vehicle, but rather in the back of a closed car.
The news reached authorities when a witness alerted them to the helpless refugees in a forest near Prien am Chiemsee (Rosenheim district) on Monday evening. According to federal police reports, the eight individuals were four young males aged between 14 and 17, and four adult men aged between 27 and 34.
It was found that the four youths were not traveling with any relatives, and thus, they were placed under the care of the Rosenheim Youth Welfare Office. The four adults were led to a reception center for migrants. The investigators think that the smuggling of these eight Syrian people was arranged operation from Turkey. Based on their statements, these refugees had paid the smugglers a sum ranging from 7,000 euros each.
