International women's game at the stadium - Leitl receives fresh ideas
For the upcoming summer, 96 has scheduled a week-long training camp in Austria starting mid-July. However, there's also an exciting event happening in Hanover during this period.
A first for the women's national team, they'll be playing a game at the 96-Arena on July 16 against Austria in the European Championship qualifiers. Following the match, the team, led by national coach Horst Hrubesch, will head to the Summer Olympics in Paris (26th July to 11th August).
Leitl's pitch gets a makeover!
A few months back, things heated up as the professional players worked tirelessly to replace the turf pieces damaged during scuffles and sprints. Poa Annua, or "annual bluegrass," invaded the main training pitch and eventually overtook the entire area.
As soon as the season ends, work on the new pitch will commence immediately. 96 finishes their season on May 19 against Kiel and then proceeds to take a break. This will be when greenkeeper Michael Meyer and his team face their most demanding tasks.
