Not on a Sunday night! - Leitl delays sending his stars on a break.
Hannover 96 still has one game left in the 2nd division on Sunday, facing Holstein Kiel who have already been promoted (3:30pm/Sky). After this match, the season is over for everyone, except for the professionals.
Captain Ron-Robert Zieler (35) and his teammates still have one more working day before they can start their vacations.
Coach Stefan Leitl (46) plans to gather his team on Monday for a meeting. "We'll definitely get together again on Monday and review the season," he revealed.
Having a meeting on Monday before vacation
Leitl wants to have his players around him early on Monday morning to start off the week. He explains, "It's about keeping the majority of the team together and I want to use the day to talk to the lads."
Another reason for the get-together is the extended break caused by the European Championship being held in Germany. Leitl thinks it's better to meet up early for a change. Each professional will also be given some homework to do during their break to maintain their fitness.
Striker Andreas Voglsammer (32) and the rest of the team will have five weeks off. Training resumes on June 23, followed by some test matches. On June 28, they'll play against SC Hemmingen-Westerfeld at 6 p.m. and against SV Ramlingen/Ehlershausen at 3:30 pm the next day. After that, they'll head to Austria for a training camp. The Bundesliga 2 season starts on the weekend of August 2-4.
