Undercover discussions held amidst Milan speculations. - Leipzig battles for top attacker Sesko.

Benjamin Sesko, a 20-year-old player, has scored in six consecutive matches for his team in the 1:1 draw against Bremen. This season, he has netted 12 goals in ten Bundesliga games and has also set up two goals. His excellent performance has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool in England, and AC Milan in Italy. It's rumored that a performance-related release clause in his contract could lawfully allow him to switch teams in the summer, with the clause potentially reaching up to 75 million euros.

According to sources, AC Milan might not be his favored choice. Instead, he may be more inclined to move to England.

Schröder's Advice to Sesko

Sporting director Rouven Schröder, aged 48, remarked following the 1:1 draw against Bremen, "No official offers have been made yet. Benji is quite relaxed with us. He recently signed a long-term contract and is well aware of what's available at our club. He's thriving here. We maintain an open line of contact, and we don't detect any inclination for him to depart."

Schröder further stated, "At the moment, we presume that he will remain with us. For him to advance, he should seize the opportunity and not limit himself to just one year."

Rose's Bluff

Though Leipzig hasn't yet appointed a new sports director, rumors say that their coach, Marco Rose, is a prospect for AC Milan, potentially taking over from Stefano Pioli, aged 58.

The rationale: the US investor RedBird is in pursuit of a coach capable of transforming young talents into high-priced assets. Rose successfully achieved this in Leipzig with Dominik Szoboszlai, sold last summer to Liverpool for 70 million euros, and at present, with Benjamin Sesko.

The truth: Rose feels right at home in Leipzig with the aim to stay. After the season, discussions will take place regarding a contract extension beyond 2025.

However, Rose has set additional terms for signing with Milan. "We need to discuss where we are headed, how the situation will evolve next. Will some players leave, soon?" he mused. "We have recently brought in five very young players who have started well. We need stability. We need a hierarchy. The team needs to be able to rely on something."

It's apparent that Rose's demands for a stable squad that doesn't undergo annual reshuffles can be advantageously employed in his negotiations with the Italian side. Then again, speculations that a coach had previously displeased the club leadership by openly making demands might not sit well.

Marco Rose has been coach of RB Leipzig since September 2022
