Led by Caitlin Clark, Iowa State vs. LSU Elite Eight matchup a slam dunk for sportsbooks

Caitlin Clark put on a show last night to help No. 1 Iowa beat No. 4 LSU in the Elite Eight, a rematch of last year's national championship game.

Clark would not be defeated by the Tigers for the second straight year. Last night, she stunned the crowd with 41 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds over rival Angel Reese.

At one point in the fourth quarter, after Clark hit one of his nine 3-pointers, Reese just shook his head in disbelief. Reese said she was in pain for most of the game. She finished with 17 points on 7-for-21 shooting.

Iowa State won 94-87, sending the Hawkeyes to the Final Four for the second straight year.

Unprecedented Action

Oddsmakers are happy to see Clark stay in the NCAA Tournament since last night's record-breaking game against LSU.

The highly anticipated rematch between Iowa State and LSU features two of the game's most notable stars - Clark and Reese. The hype has also spread to sportsbooks, with oddsmakers saying the stakes for this game are unprecedented.

FanDuel says Iowa-LSU is the biggest women's sports event ever.

"We're seeing incredible growth in betting on women's sports as fans show unprecedented interest, and we look forward to seeing how fans engage with the Final Four," FanDuel Sportsbook senior vice president and general manager Karol Corcoran told CNBC ..

Fanatics Sportsbook says the tickets and bonuses for Iowa State's showdown with LSU are more than twice as high as other women's March Madness games this year. The game also surpassed several major men's tournaments in revenue, including North Carolina-Alabama, Kansas State-Gonzaga and Kentucky-Oakland.

DraftKings says the battle between Iowa State and LSU dominates Monday night. The women's nightcap game between UConn and USC also generated quite a stir.

BetMGM also reports that Iowa State vs. LSU is the most bet on a women's sports game of all time.

Seamus Magee, trading manager at BetMGM, said: “It was a special night for the game and sports betting as we saw record numbers both pre-match and live.”

Title may be short-lived

Iowa State's LSU claim to have the most bets ever in the women's game may not last long.

The Hawkeyes and UConn Huskies will meet in the Final Four of the NCAA women's tournament on Friday in Cleveland. Clark will face another big star in Paige Bueckers.

According to ESPN Bet statistics, Iowa State leads by 2.5 points, and the over/under is 162.5 points. UConn's moneyline is +120 and the Hawkeyes' moneyline is -142.

Most states where sports betting is legal prohibit the provision of player props to college athletes. Therefore, most bettors don't have the option to bet on how many points Clark or Bueckers will score on Friday night.

The only states that continue to allow college players to provide props for individual games (as opposed to the entire season) are Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan and Wyoming.
